Executive Board

Confidence, vision, empathy and customer focus form the bedrock of our client relations. This is particularly true for our Board members. They personally manage complex assets and place the interests of their clients at the heart of their work.

Dr. Thomas Rüschen, Chairman of the Executive Board

Dr. Thomas Rüschen gained his PhD in “Consulting Banking” with Professor Wolfram Engels at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt after studying business administration at the University of Mannheim. Upon graduation he spent two years working for a management consulting company.

Dr Rüschen joined Deutsche Bank Group in 1990, first working in the Corporate Client Strategy department and Credit Risk Management in Frankfurt. He was promoted to Senior Relationship Manager in Structured Finance in London, England and from 1997 to 2000 was in charge of corporate business in continental Europe outside Germany. From July 2000 to June 2003 he was first Deputy Country Manager and then Country Manager for Deutsche Bank in Milan, Italy. From there he became the Global Head of the Asset Finance & Leasing group at Deutsche Bank’s Corporate & Investment Bank until the beginning of 2011.

From 2011 to August 2014, he was the Global Head of Key Account Management & Sales Strategy and a member of the Executive Committee of the Global Client Group of Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management as well as a member of the DWS management team. Dr Thomas Rüschen has been Chairman of the Executive Board of Deutsche Oppenheim Family Office AG since September 2014.

Stefan Freytag

After studying business management at Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich, Stefan Freytag began his career in 1985 as a Finance Assistant with Bayerische Rückversicherung AG. He had held various positions there as Securities Advisor, Investment Department Manager and as Head of Finance, when he decided in 1998 to take on the position of Securities Department Manager at Swiss Life Deutschland. Freytag was then employed by the subsidiary Swiss Life Asset Management KAG mbH as Managing Director, and later appointed as Chief Investment Officer at Swiss Life Deutschland.

In 2006, he moved to the Executive Board of Wilhelm von Finck AG and chaired the Executive Board of Wilhelm von Finck Deutsche Family Office AG from 2011. His specialized area of responsibility is asset management.

Stefan Freytag has been member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Oppenheim Family Office AG since 2013.

Dr. Jörn Matthias Häuser

Following a degree in physics at Justus-Liebig-Universität in Gießen and at the University of Washington in Seattle, Dr. Häuser acquired his doctorate in theoretical physics in Gießen. Subsequently, he worked for a management consultancy for three years.

Since 2000, he has been employed by Deutsche Bank group, first in Inhouse Consulting, then in various areas of Private Banking and Private Wealth Management (PWM), among other positions, as Chief Operating Officer of PWM Deutschland and as Co-Program Manager of the New PWM platform with Deutsche Bank in Geneva (Switzerland).

In parallel, he acquired an MBA degree from the École des Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC) in Geneva in 2005 and an Executive MBA from the Tepper School of Business at the Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh in 2007.

From 2010 to the end of 2014, he was employed by Sal. Oppenheim as Chief Operating Officer.

In October 2014, he joined Deutsche Oppenheim Family Office AG as Chief Operating Officer.

Since January 2017, he has been a member of the board of Deutsche Oppenheim Family Office AG.
